The opening ceremony was started with the welcome speech of Vice Chairperson of Interfaith Peace Federation Nepal, Ms. Seema Khan. She addressed that every religious federation should come together in one place in order to bring subject that are overshadowed into mainstream.

Secretary of National Human Rights Commission, Joint secretary of Nepal law Commission, Chairperson of Interfaith Peace Federation Nepal along with various Non-Governmental Organizations, Religious Organization, various medias were actively present throughout the program where they gave their point of view stating that Nepal should move forward by maintaining the religious harmony and co-existence.

Similarly, General Secretary of Interfaith Peace Federation Nepal Dr. Mahendra Bhattarai clarified the objective of the program where he mentioned that origin of the organization was established in order to change the approach towards minority groups. He said, “We should move ahead with religious solidarity. Institutionalize development should be done with the co-operation, love, co-existence and festivals to move forward. For the promotion of peace, we will be working with the coordination of non-governmental organization and Nepal Government by forming the utility in provincial and territorial through Himalaya, Hilly and Terai region. Our main motto is to construct peace and minimization of dispute of cultural. We have worked a lot during COVID-19 pandemic. Our main objective is to tie up all the religious federation with peace, coordination and cooperation in one flag to move further.”

Likewise, the facilitator in the program was Dr. Dambar Chemjong, cleared the core of objective of the program by stating that the peace is determined by the cultural, social, role of human society. He said, “Human is a social being. One of the best characters of human is to get along with each other. Every religion has its own co-existence. Though the major character of Nepali society is Hindu, there is the provision where everyone can happily get to follow the religion. Every religion has one purpose of maintaining peace and harmony. So, the best option is to incorporate every religion to go ahead. Despite Nepal being secular state according to the constitution of Nepal, the religious identity and values of minority religious communities are not equalized by the nation.”

In closing ceremony, Mr. Ram Bhakta Kurumwang, Chairperson of Interfaith Peace Federation Nepal, said, “We are all equal. Human life can move forward with peace, culture, existence and help. We are in common place to build up the integral part, cultural tolerance, respect, co-existence and peaceful equality of our society. We will continuously work upon peace development.”

Facilitator`s Introduction:

Dr. Dumbar Chemjong is the Head of the Central Department of Anthropology, Tribhuvan University. Dr. Chemjong, who has worked in school teaching for four years and government job for ten years, has started teaching humanities at Tribhuvan University Kirtipur since 1996. Having studied IA and BA from Dhankuta Multipurpose Campus, he obtained MA in Anthropology from Tribhuvan University in 1996, Bergen University in 2002, MPhil from Norway and Cornell University in New York, PhD in Anthropology from USA. He is a member of Constituency Determination Commission formed by Nepal Government in 2007 and 2012.
